Derek Bickerton (d. 2018) was an English-born American linguist and academic who was Professor Emeritus at the University of Hawaii in Manoa. He is the author of numerous academic works as well as the renown novelist of the Commandment Trilogy. A poet extraordinaire, he wrote extensively on the richness of life and the mysteries of death. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne.
